About Me
Enough about me, what about you?
Howdy all, my name is Geoffrey McCaleb. I call myself a proud Texan though I last lived in the Lone Star state back in 1989.
I write, listen to good music, travel, and drink coffee; not neccesarily in that order, and not with any varying degree of success either. I’ve had the luck to have lived in Europe for over 10 years in Prague and London. In between I’ve also called San Francisco, Dubai, and Los Angeles home as well, but more or less I’m a card carrying, espresso sipping, tax complaining, weather tollerating European (just don’t call me British) who just happens to drag my American flag out whenever the mood strikes me.

My wife and I
I used to be a small-time DJ playing Chillout, Trip Hop, and Lounge when I lived in Prague; nothing special mind you but it paid the bills and filled the soul.
I am married to Birsel, an amazing woman who puts up with my obsessions and many servers in the house. Also I am a former Windows user who has recently escaped to the Mac. The air over here is nice by the way.
Professional
I have worked within the IT industry for over 10 years now. I used to code, until I came to the startling realisation that I was a terrible developer. It took me about a week to come to this epiphany if memory serves. Now, I help design content management platforms using Documentum and/or OSS solutions.
Currently I’m geeking up on Ruby on Rails and CakePHP on the framework side, and Joomla on the CMS side.
Geek
Hacked my first server when I was 12. Insted of building on that and becoming a co-founder of Netscape, I decided to just use the experience as an annoying annecdote at parties. First experience with ARPANET at 10. First home PC at 14 (TI 99/4a). First program in BASIC at 15. First experience with the Internet at 23.
BBQ
You’ll know me by the stench of BBQ in the air. I’ve BBQ’d in the snow (Prague), sandstorms (Dubai), driving rain (England), and during a blackout after the 1995 Northridge Earthquake (LA).
